The world is changing fast. There is a collective sense of responsibility for achieving net zero carbon emissions, with more and more organisations making sustainable commitments and publishing their plans for achieving them.

This includes the NHS, dedicated to becoming the first net zero national health service in the world, an ambition enshrined in law via the 2022 Health and Care Act. This sets out a target of an 80% reduction in controllable carbon emissions by 2032, with net zero reached by 2040, and the wider NHS carbon footprint – those emissions that can be influenced, for example through the supply chain – falling by 80% by 2039 and reaching net zero by 2045.

This environmental policy serves as a guiding framework for our company’s commitment to:

1. Energy Conservation: we actively seek ways to reduce energy consumption and increase energy efficiency in our facilities. This includes the use of energy-efficient technologies, regular maintenance of equipment, use of electric / hybrid vehicles and public transport where possible and minimising travel at every opportunity. Our energy contract provides 100% sustainable power and we are committed to zero paper waste.
2. Sustainable Procurement: We prioritise the procurement of products and services that align with our commitment to environmental sustainability. This includes selecting suppliers and vendors who share our values and engage in environmentally responsible practices, but also extend to the use of local suppliers / reducing the travel miles of materials. We are committed to zero use of single use plastics.
3. Employee Engagement and Training: We recognise the importance of engaging our employees in our environmental efforts. We provide training and awareness s to ensure that our staff are informed and motivated to contribute to our environmental goals.
4. Continuous Improvement: Fontis is dedicated to the ongoing improvement of our environmental performance. We will regularly review and update our environmental objectives, setting targets to measure our progress and striving for continual improvement.
5. Transparency and Reporting: We are committed to transparency in our environmental efforts. We will regularly communicate our environmental performance and progress to our stakeholders through reports and other communication channels.
